Transportation allows people to access a lot of things such as getting where they need to be, jobs, etc. However the transportation system needs to be fix for examples roads, highways, bridges. A lot of things that people are able to do are based on transportation. However people who can’t afford having a car are limited to doing all of their needs. This may cause an issue to people who can’t afford having a vehicle because many metros have been charging more within the past couple of years.

In my opinion I think that transportation can and can’t have benefits to the environment. I think that transportation is a good idea because it accesses so many things to do and to finish. However for people who can’t afford a vehicle not having transportation can be hard. Its also a struggle because people who can’t afford a vehicle have to pay each time they want to go somewhere by either using a taxi, metro, or bus.

“Scientists Confirm There’s Enough Fossil Fuel on Earth to Entirely Melt Antarctica.” Washington Post. The Washington Post, n.d. Web. 15 Sept. 2015.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/energy-environment/wp/2015/09/11/scientists-confirm-theres-enough-fossil-fuel-on-earth-to-melt-all-of-antarctica/

Fossil Fuels has majorly affected our environment. The ocean has been rising in temperature which has caused the icebergs to melt. Studies have said that if people burn all of the fossil fuels on earth then Antarctica would be completely melted. The process of burning all the fossil fuels would take about 500 years. Temperature rising can melt ice sheets from the bottom of the ocean which can cause ice layers breaking off in the water.

I think this is a major environmental issue because if ice is melting then the sea level will rise and the animals will die. Having the sea level rise causes major impacts. This is also caused by global warming. If all the ice melts in Antarctica the whole animal population will die. Also having all the fossil fuels burn it will end up causing more air pollution.

“Will Falling Oil Prices Kill Wind and Solar Power?” Scientific American Global RSS. N.p., n.d. Web. 21 Sept. 2015.

The prices of oil fallen in price. Also the United States is one of the top producers of natural gas which lets the country needing no help from others. The cost of electrical cars have decreased 40 percent within the price of how it was in 2008. In the future electrical car prices are going to decrease. Also not only the prices are getting lower but the density of the batteries are getting higher allowing electrical cars to last longer.

I think this is a great cause because this will allow more people to buy electric cars. If more people purchase electrical cars it will reduce air pollution and other negative effects. Also if the by the density of the batteries getting higher more people will be intrigued to purchase the car. It is also a benefit that the United States is the top producer for natural gas because it means that the U.S. doesn’t have to rely on other countries. These electrical car companies will make a lot of money in the future.

Davenport, Coral, and Aaron. “Proposed Rule for Big Trucks Aims at Cutting Fuel Emissions.” The New York Times. The New York Times, 19 June 2015. Web. 21 Sept. 2015.

Obama and his administration have taken action to reduce the pollution from large trucks. The new rule will increase fuel efficiency and set regulations on emissions. He is also working with the EPA to reduce pollution from power plants and airplane emissions. Many truck companies are not happy about these changes due to the expensive technology and new standards it will require. However, billions of greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced along with oil. In the end the costs companies will have to pay will result in extreme savings in fuel and gas.

I think this is a good step for the environment. Obama working with EPA and getting involved with this serious cause can bring a major impact on the system and will help the environment more. Working to reduce power plants and airplane emissions it can help the environment a lot and cause less pollution and other negative effects. Even though the truck companies aren’t happy it will eventually bring a lot of benefits to the future. It will save the government more money in the long run.

“The Environmental Impact of Different Types of Transport.” Anonymous. N.p., 22 Mar. 2011. Web. 23 Aug. 2015. From

This article states that 62 percent of our greenhouse gas emission were contributed by passenger cars. It says how people who live close by to their destination should either walk, bike, or do some physical activity. Bicycles and scooters are better rather than parking because it’s a physical activity and the person doesn’t have to worry about any parking spaces. Also by carpooling or using public transportation it can save our environment a lot.

This article had very good examples and information. It said that non-vehicles should be used, however if the destination where you are headed to is close it’s better to walk, bike, etc. I agree with this article because I think it’s impossible to have everyone stop using vehicles especially in this century however we can reduce the number of people using it or use it in a much more healthier way.

  1. I appreciate the change transportation habits article. The fact that our transportation contributes to green house emissions is old news but this article is different becasue it actually gives stats and puts things in perspective.

  2. It’s astonishing to hear if we burned all the fossil fuels on the Earth, Antarctica would be completely melted. It makes me question how much we have already melted and makes me wonder to what extent it’s worth.

  3. Nina- I’m glad to see you here and I know you worked hard on this at this point. I do want to remind you of how important the directions are. You didn’t connect your project to a category and you posted everything as one post. That means it’s hard for people to find and they can’t comment on your articles because they are all lumped together. The whole point of this is for you to share the news- but we got hung up in “publishing”- that could have been avoided.
