Recently, countries from almost every continent have set up restrictions or have banned GMOs. China, Russia, France and Scotland are among recent countries that have chosen to enforce labeling food laws, whereas Germany and a few countries in Africa have gone as far as completely banning GMOs. According to Jamal, one of the reasons GMOs are becoming increasingly unpopular is due to new studies on glyphosate, made by the World Health Organization. Glyphosate is one of the main ingredients used in Monsanto GMO foods, and about 80% of Biotech companies use this herbicide. Thus, Monsanto GMO products in addition to other GMOs using this herbicide will likely negatively impact human health.
