  1. It’s truly a great thing that California’s tourism is mostly nature based, as opposed to other big tourism areas like New York. Having all of these beautiful areas is a huge benefit of being a Californian. One question I have is will the government begin protecting more areas in California as climate change or deforestation creep in more?

    • Thank you for reading. I am not sure how far the government will go to protect California’s environment, but in recent years, there have been efforts to protect more areas in California in response to the threats posed by climate change and deforestation. California has recently designated new wilderness areas, state parks, and wildlife refuges. I believe that if tourism is negatively affecting the environment the government will begin to protect more areas of California.

  2. This is a good response, nice job! Reading this response made me feel better because I had heard stories of how ecotourism was bad for the environment. I agree that it is good that there are many eco-friendly activities. What is something we can do to make tourism better for the environment?

    • Thank you for reading! In order to make tourism more environmentally friendly people should try to choose a place to stay with eco friendly practices in place (recycling programs, energy-efficient lighting, etc) and should use public transportation when possible. Additionally, people can support the local businesses to reduce the carbon footprint of imported goods and can choose eco friendly activities.
