The United States population has been going through quite a lot of changes. There have been many different factors that contribute to the increase and decrease of the population. Factors such as immigration and Covid. Because of Covid, the population decreased and stayed at a standstill for more than a year due to all of the deaths and because of immigration, there has been an increase in population. It is also said that half of the United States, some more deaths than births during the years of 2021 and 2022.

This article talks about how many of the states had very different outcomes throughout the last couple of years, especially during the Covid times. More states specifically on the West Coast suffered a lot more deaths than the states in the East. The reasoning behind this is claimed to be because of how crowded the majority of the West Coast states are in comparison to the East Coast states. States like California, Arizona, Washington, and Oregon were the majority of the states that had lost their population. In comparison to the states, of Texas, Florida, and North Carolina, Georgia has the most population numerically. The reasoning behind this could also be because of the population in each state. I wonder if California was said to have had one of the biggest losses only because they had so many people to begin with and at the beginning of the pandemic. I think that the supplies very much to APR mental science because of the changes coming so rapidly to the human race due to diseases.

  1. Katie- You’ve got a topic of enormous env. importance. Be sure to make that link in your follow up paragraph. CA has all kinds of pop issues. I didn’t realize we had more COVID deaths- interesting. My question for you is in just thinking about CA, what is the env. impact if the population expands? Or if it gets smaller, is there an env. impact with that too?

    Well written abstract!

  2. I find it interesting that immigration had such a big impact on maintaining the amount of people which inhabit a certain state because i thought the number of deaths would have greatly the population in every state. The question is should immigration laws be changed in the U.S or should they stay the same.
