This article shows how  nuclear power is an important component of generating large-scale electricity that’s good for the environment. It discusses how this bill is still in the works and has no certainty of being passed. The article also added  that the site may remain open past 2025 if PG&E are able to call the energy produced on this nuclear power plant “renewable”.

In this article by The Sacramento Bee, we learn that nuclear power in California is produced by two operating nuclear power reactors at one plant. There are three nuclear facilities at various stages of decommissioning, and multiple research reactors that are operational or undergoing decommissioning. The California Energy Commission coordinates the activities of state agencies involved with nuclear material shipments. If the PG&E nuclear plant does close, electric bills will most certainly rise. California Energy Commission also states that we can only become more efficient with nuclear power to help save the United States and make it a better place.

This article relates to environmental science in the sense that nuclear power needs to be more efficient and eco friendly so we can help California in its mission to save the United States. Next, we need to take action in saving the planet because it has gotten to the point that climate change is almost unstoppable. Nuclear power is so important because it provides energy for the entire United States to use. In my opinion I believe that the use of nuclear power can be improved in its efficiency and I hope to find a new alternative for power that is better for the United States.

In the article by Forbes Magazine, we learn that  a California state legislator introduced an amendment to the state’s constitution that would classify nuclear energy as “renewable.” The article also talks about how now in 2019,we must make the decision to save the planet or to save the dying nuclear industry. In the United States nuclear energy is used in almost all daily activities. This may result in the continued operation of the state’s last nuclear plant, Diablo Canyon, well past 2025, its current closure date.

This article relates to environmental science because it shows how nuclear power is still currently developing and becoming more efficient in particular in California. It describes how Diablo generates 9% of California’s electricity and 20% of its clean, carbon-free electricity. This article also shows how essential nuclear power really is. I believe that nuclear energy Is so important in keeping the United States energy efficient and I believe we must find the most efficient way to create power. Nuclear power is a step in the right direction of eliminating greenhouse gas emissions into our environment. A better solution would be wind propelled energy and turbines. This article by USA today shows how in the United States nuclear power is far too expensive to be efficient. It also states that nuclear power is very risky because it can have leaks and other issues that cause them to shut down which brings down all power that runs off of the nuclear power plants which greatly affects the people in the United States.. 

I agree that with new methods of energy production such as wind turbines that we can not only promote efficiency but also promote a cheaper and more reliable source of energy to help better out country. In my opinion this is a great idea because it promotes saving our environment and requires new ideas and uses of our natural resources. This efficiency helps preserve the United States, we live in today and keeps us in a healthy environment.

This article shows how Trump is limiting the amount of uranium that can be mined in the United States. He now has a law stating that 25% of the uranium used in nuclear power plants must have came from a domestic company.. This ensures a stable economy and also saves our country from being heavily mined for uranium and extracting precious earth metals. Currently in 2019, nuclear power only produces 20% of the United States power, but if that percentage increases, the earth can become a safer place. 

This article shows that nuclear energy is avery effective source of energy but we must diversify the areas of the precious earth metals we mine.  If we use our uranium supplies efficiently we will have a healthy country and a safer environment. If enough people switch to using nuclear energy, the United States can be a safer and better place.
