Wildfires have been burning repeatedly in Southern California due to the drought. This past year has had a lot of fires in comparison to previous years. What a lot of people do not realize, is the havoc that each wildfire causes. After it is put out, the firefighters have to go into the ashes and smoke and clear up all of the remnants of the fire. All of the burnt houses, schools, and buildings have to be removed from the scene by the firefighters. They have an important and hefty role in the environmental clean-up of a wildfire.

I find firefighters to be extremely admirable. All of the effort they put into evacuating people, saving their homes, and possibly cleaning up the remnants of those homes is very impressive. They take care and protect environments before, during, and after a wildfire no matter how destructive it is. They are the leaders in cleaning-up our environments when we need it most.

  1. I agree that firefighters are important for the safety of everyone. While natural fires are important to an ecosystem, as we have learned, wildfires can be too destructive and hurt many lives.

  2. Firefighters are very important to us because of their bravery and, as you said, they are definitely people to admire. I can’t imagine putting my life at risk every day as they do.

  3. I believe that firefighters do not earn enough credit for the job that they do. It is amazing to see that we are being protected everyday by people like us and I agree that everyone should admire the work that they do.
