A water powered clock keeps an accurate time without the use of batteries or electricity. The water powered clock is able to generate its own energy to run the clock. The electrode inside the clock converts  ions in the clock into a current strong enough to create power for the clock for three or more months. The memory chip helps to make sure that the time never needs to be reset.

The water powered clock helps conserve electricity that is used everyday to power a clock. This new technology allows water to be the energy. With more water powered clocks, there could be a great difference in conserving technology and making a smaller impact on the earth.

  1. WOW! That is super cool. I really like to see common things that use electricity or batteries made in a more sustainable way. What else can be powered by water?

    • As we read in chapter 20, water can be used at hydropower in dams as water flows through them, turning turbines and generating electricity. As I said in my comment, water has a lot of potential and can definitely be used as some sort of a power source.

  2. Inventions like this are what is needed to make the human population more sustainable. Water is a huge resource in our world and should be utilized more often because it has a huge amount of undiscovered potential!

  3. A water powered clock sounds very interesting! is the water that is being used in these clocks being in any way conserved? Is there a more sustainable energy source instead of water? Since we are currently in a drought?

  4. This invention is really interesting! With our ever growing population its the little inventions such as this that will help us the most. Once the 3 months pass can the electrode in the clock be renewed or is the clock only useable for 3 months?

  5. That sounds like such a cool way to conserve energy! Hopefully we can use the technology in other devices. Is the clock more expensive than regular clocks?
