Severnin, E. (2019, Feb. 4). Many countries efforts to pass climate regulations may have resulted in the unintended consquences involving energy production, actually producing more greenhouse gases. Retrieved February 26, 2019, from

According to studies at Carnegie Melon University, our regulations maybe have helped wildlife, however, preventing the production of hydroelectric projects led to more greenhouse gas emissions. This lead researchers to believe that hydropower is perhaps causing as much or even more greenhouse emissions than fossil fuel.

This article relates to enviromental science because many scientists are frantically pushing for the use of alternative energy such as the hydrogen fuel cell. A hydrogen fuel cell is increadible exprensive, but is believed to reduce carbon footprint and make energy more eco-friendly.However, recent studies have suggested that a hydrogen fuel cell may actually lead to more greenhouse emission, making many scientist question its benefits. Thus leading to more research over which is the most effective renewable energy, which doesn’t seem to be hydrogen. However, it proves that more research and experiments need to be done to find the best alternative energy.

  1. I like that this article took a different perspective about the renewable energy debate and I agree that more research should be done to figure out if these alternatives are actually viable. What are your thoughts on switching over to renewable energy without fully knowing what that would cost?
